One woman's ale journey

A beery boozy journey with delightful snacks along the way and a book in my hand.

Beer books

A beer bible for every beer lover!  This is a must have book to fully appreciate the ales you are drinking.  One of my favourite lines in the book is "You don’t merely taste a beer, you experience it."

The book is split into 6 parts; Knowing Beer; Ales; Wheat Beers; Lagers; Tart and Wild Ales; and Enjoying Beer.  I was delighted to see Coniston Bluebird getting a mention in the Bitter section of the Ales chapter!

I'm always going on about the head of my beer, and I wasn't sure if it was just a Northern thing, but Jeff Alworth mentions it in his book - "A good beer will not only retain its head, but leave a lattice of residue on the inside of the glass."  "Tasters look to see how structured the head is, whether the bubbles are tight and creamy, and how long they last—all clues to the quality of the beer."  I couldn't agree more.

A book to constantly refer to and dip in and out of.  Jeff Alworth has written a fantastic book for all beer lovers and I will be adopting his tips for experiencing beer, rather than simply tasting it.  Try it yourself - Look, Smell, Sip, Swallow.

A book shaped like a bottle of beer?  Genius!

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to try all of the beers in the book but I'll have a good go.

There are beers listed from 8 parts of the world: UK, USA, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Australasia.  So whatever your favourite style of beer, there's sure to be one in here as there really is something for everyone.

Before I discovered Beerwulf, there were quite a few beers in the book that I had never heard of, so I'll be picking up some of the more unusual beers in my next Beerwulf order.

This little book is a perfect gift for any beer lover.
