Yes, that's a full 50/50 and I don't hand that score out very often.</div></span><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I usually try to keep the sediment in the can but this is a milkshake IPA so I just poured it all in the glass. It looks like orange juice with a thick cream coloured head.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It smells SO fruity with a combination of tropical fruits and citrus. It's sweet and juicy with tropical fruits and citrus combining with the lactose and oats to give a smooth and perfectly balance flavour. It's definitely one for the sweet toothed beer drinker, but it's not too sweet and it has a lovely bitter finish. There isn't even a hint of raw alcohol taste, despite the stonking 7% ABV.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's full bodied and well carbonated to give a nice tingly mouthfeel that reminds you it's beer not juice that you're drinking. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I couldn't fault this beer at all and it was well deserving of a perfect score from me. It has a very watery taste of hops and a slightly soapy hint of citrus. The hint of caffeine is perhaps in the aftertaste that I can only describe as 'a bit weird'. As you would expect from a lager it's thin bodied and well carbonated so it has a proper lagery mouthfeel.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a refreshing light lager but it's more of a Lager minus than a Lager plus for me. The caffeine leaves too much of a weird taste in my mouth and I much prefer a beery aftertaste so unfortunately, Ale not Be Seeing You again.</span></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif"><br /></span><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">Brewed by The Innovative Brewing Co, London</span><br /><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">4.2% ABV</span><br /><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif"><br /></span><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">My rating:</span><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lER_p6q_jZs/V3ALuLZNq7I/AAAAAAAACbc/P4trARXtIAET0ySRsqqQ54DVFEubFdo8ACPcBGAYYCw/s2824/3%2Bstar.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="964" data-original-width="2824" height="68" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lER_p6q_jZs/V3ALuLZNq7I/AAAAAAAACbc/P4trARXtIAET0ySRsqqQ54DVFEubFdo8ACPcBGAYYCw/w200-h68/3%2Bstar.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br /></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif"><br /></span></span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;">My Untappd score: 3.25/5</span></div><div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><a href="https://www.primetimelager.com/" target="_blank">Find out more at Prime Time</a></span></div></div>Michelle Ryleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14400361504311139225noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2172783449482524149.post-57465544058577204752024-01-15T00:58:00.001+00:002024-01-15T00:58:00.186+00:00Prime Time Premium Lager<div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhhxV2EMPKAnEkkdYm4oYMrKozasXqgxMK8L4mJ4n2FSyRgSFMQfwvNYQJXwk6McWGfPX_8QWvPngw6NXWPMi4Ds4IbNYiuaJ7rau7S1hKxesHRNaHjlQiCS6HoLMGbooBUPDnf0jRdvZWOIcdqnQl6RTby81xCT7a0jicok0hFgSb-G6JKldJyDqKGQ/s2048/IMG_6932.JPEG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAhhxV2EMPKAnEkkdYm4oYMrKozasXqgxMK8L4mJ4n2FSyRgSFMQfwvNYQJXwk6McWGfPX_8QWvPngw6NXWPMi4Ds4IbNYiuaJ7rau7S1hKxesHRNaHjlQiCS6HoLMGbooBUPDnf0jRdvZWOIcdqnQl6RTby81xCT7a0jicok0hFgSb-G6JKldJyDqKGQ/w480-h640/IMG_6932.JPEG" width="360" /></a></div><br /><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I was attracted to Prime Time's premium lager by the 95 calories per can as I often drink alcohol free beer when I'm on a diet. So, I have to give Prime Time extra credit for creating a low calorie lager but as you know I like my dark ales, so lager is never going to be a high scorer for me.</span></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The lager is a deep golden colour with a frothy and surprisingly tight off-white head that lasts and laces. I was really impressed by the aroma; it smells lovely and beery with a traditional combination of hops, malts, caramel and light fruit.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The flavour is very light but not unexpected for a lager, however, after getting a whiff of the lovely beery aroma, it tastes like a watered down beer. There's a metallic aftertaste that is really the only hint of flavour I picked up. It's well carbonated and nicely fizzy with a thin body.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I expected a bit more taste from a 'premium' lager so I was disappointed with the very weak flavour. It's a very subtle lager that will appeal to novice palates but I prefer my beer with a bit more oomph. You can smell the delicious aroma of coffee as soon as you open the can of this Coffee & Biscotti stout from New Bristol Brewery. It's a lovely looking stout with a dark brown body and a deep tan head. The head disappears quite quickly and leaves a very patchy layer behind.</span></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The aroma is coffee, coffee and a bit more coffee with a slight hint of milk chocolate and malt biscuits. The flavour is sublime as my taste buds were hit with a lovely biscotti taste followed by a generous helping of creamy white coffee that isn't bitter at all. It does have a slight bitter aftertaste but it's very pleasant.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Carbonation is very light, which gives it a beautiful silky smooth mouthfeel, and it's so incredibly full bodied that I was almost tempted to stick a spoon in it to see if it would have stood up.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif"><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I was very impressed with this stout; it is what it says on the can and it has the perfect balance between sweet and bitter, being neither too much of one nor the other. It pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a tight, thick, robust off-white head that lasts and laces.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The aroma is deliciously fruity with notes of lemon, orange and tropical fruit as well as the expected blast of hops. It tastes like it smells with a lovely blend of citrus and tropical fruits and hops that give it a lovely dry/bitter finish. I couldn't see any best before date on the can so I've got no idea whether or not it was in date when I drank it. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It has a dark brown mahogany coloured body with a small rapidly vanishing tan head. It's like sweet, creamy candy covered in milk chocolate and it's so malty. The sweetness really lingers so it's definitely a beer for the sweet toothed among us. It has a full body and medium carbonation which gives it a relatively smooth mouthfeel.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a lovely sweet stout but it tastes more chocolate than caramel fudge to me. I picked this on up at Sainsbury's when I saw that it was brewed by Eagle Brewery, which also brews the Banana Bread beer that I love. It states on the bottle to serve it chilled but I drank it at room temperature and I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if it were chilled.</span></div></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It pours a delicious deep amber colour with ruby red tones and it has a small, cream coloured head that retains a thin layer on dispersal. There is a slight hint of spice but it's barely noticeable, which is a little disappointing. The bitterness lingers a little too long but I do prefer metallic notes over citrus in a dark ale. </span><span style="font-family: arial;">It's well carbonated and has a medium body to give a tingly mouthfeel.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">Although I wouldn't describe it as a winter warmer ale, it's a decent enough budget dark ale with a lovely malty taste and a lingering metallic finish. This is a Scottish tablet stout brewed with lactose by Dumbarton brewers Loch Lomond. For anyone who doesn't know what it is, a Scottish tablet is a buttery, crumbly fudge and it's delicious.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">This is a very dark brown, almost black, stout with a tight tan head that retains a decent layer. The aroma is mouthwatering with notes of sweet caramel, chocolate cake and treacle bursting out of the can.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I could taste the sweetness in my first sip and the sweet chocolate and treacle flavours reminded me of a pastry stout then it does something different. The Pacifica hops add a touch of bitter citrus and dryness to the finish. It smells incredibly nutty and I could smell them as soon as I opened the can. Underneath the nutty aroma there are delicious notes of chocolate, malt and even more nuts.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">The taste is deliciously dark with loads of malt and hints of chocolate and liquorice. The chocolate is dark and slightly bitter and there's no prizes for guessing the aftertaste: it's nuts! It has a lovely full body and medium carbonation, giving it a relatively smooth mouthfeel that I like to see in a stout.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">With an ABV of 7.1%, it's a very rich and decadent stout. The dark chocolate bitterness is a little bit too much for me as I don't really like dark chocolate but the nuttiness is amazing and it tastes like it says on the can. It's definitely one I'd recommend trying and Ale Be Seeing You again.</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">Brewed by Stewart Brewing, Loanhead, Midlothian, Scotland</span><br /><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">7.1% ABV</span><br /><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif"><br /></span><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">My rating:</span><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0zp5vyW9Zfg/V6cgIsKTPqI/AAAAAAAACnE/jumYxgdLBtArdXBlwpdOi9P7Pedh9sbKgCPcBGAYYCw/s1600/4%2Bstar.jpg" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><img border="0" data-original-height="547" data-original-width="1600" height="68" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0zp5vyW9Zfg/V6cgIsKTPqI/AAAAAAAACnE/jumYxgdLBtArdXBlwpdOi9P7Pedh9sbKgCPcBGAYYCw/s200/4%2Bstar.jpg" width="200" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><span style="font-family: arial;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><span face=""arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif">My Untappd score: 4/5</span></span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span><div><span style="font-family: arial;"><a href="https://www.stewartbrewing.co.uk/products/cocoa-nut?variant=42472370340034" target="_blank">Find out more at Stewart Brewing</a></span></div></div>Michelle Ryleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14400361504311139225noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2172783449482524149.post-23100177655314888722023-09-11T00:59:00.000+01:002023-09-11T00:59:00.148+01:00BrewDog Silk Road<div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbxPiEq5NxfwbdjgY7T77KeiBQV3uDJ39KkyRVrYKSfz8JHRGLJECy6CDvZVePJON67LsG2wOjR9n5d2Lvhi3nIgWpCL0C00H74IGDaTnFJ41-OfuJTZ-cKW6yZDrwCsvlqWnQurSLnjgRRa4aSulaeyaF_CuFeFo0MAwxmB3SM5RBSEokGPqsSsgxDkM/s2943/IMG_4331.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2943" data-original-width="2207" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbxPiEq5NxfwbdjgY7T77KeiBQV3uDJ39KkyRVrYKSfz8JHRGLJECy6CDvZVePJON67LsG2wOjR9n5d2Lvhi3nIgWpCL0C00H74IGDaTnFJ41-OfuJTZ-cKW6yZDrwCsvlqWnQurSLnjgRRa4aSulaeyaF_CuFeFo0MAwxmB3SM5RBSEokGPqsSsgxDkM/w480-h640/IMG_4331.jpg" width="360" /></a></div> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I picked up this can of mango and lychee hazy IPA in Herons for something silly like 69p, so of course it would have been rude not to get one....or two.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a lovely hazy golden beer with a small, rapidly vanishing off-white head that leaves a patchy layer of foam. The bargain price of £1.29 was another attraction, of course.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a deep golden beer with a frothy, very rapidly disappearing cream coloured head and it has a traditional continental beer smell of hops and malt. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">I was surprised how malty it tastes as I would normally expect a darker body to correspond to this amount of malt. I'm not complaining at all, I love a malty beer! There are also notes of tangy hops, sweet caramel and biscuit. </span><span style="font-family: arial;">The body is quite thin but it's not watery as the soft, low carbonation gives it a tingly mouthfeel. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;"><br /></span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It's a lovely malty, refreshing beer.
